    Help - Hogs won't go away

    Need some helpful input. We have a lease in Houston County and have some pretty good pics of deer at our protein (gravity) feeders before we swapped over to corn (spin) feeders. Our protein feeders are protected by hog paneling but our corn feeders are wide open. The hogs are coming to nearly every corn feeder we have and eating the corn before the deer have a chance to come in.

    So here's where the helpful input is needed. We are considering putting hog paneling up around half of the corn feeders this weekend to see if that will help clear some of the hogs out while allowing the deer access to the corn. We are also considering going all out and shooting (using gun and bow) as many hogs as we can to possibly run them off the lease for a little while.

    In everyone's most expert opinion, what would be the best way for us to handle our hog epidemic? And would either of these possible solutions have negative effects on our deer for this season. Thanks for any input!

    Stop feeding them!

      Panel the corn feeders and they'll leave to the nearest neighbor feeding corn. Should be a bunch this time of year. Rids them quietly.

        Everything you mentioned I would do. Pen feeders and blast away same trip with no intentions of hunting deer. Deer hitting protein pens then they won't be bothered by new pens around corn. Eliminate feed for pigs and they will slow down but never go away.

            Hog panel trap around each feeder. Hogs get trapped and deer can jump it. We've done this before and it helps. Plus your not out at night having to shoot and scare a bunch of deer

              Best way to run pigs off is dogs. Hit them in there bed with some hog dogs they won't stay around long.

                This, or shoot into them with a gun when bedded.

                  Thought about using dogs but don't want to run the deer off especially this time of year. Might consider it after the season is over.

                    Both will work. You may not get rid of them but maybe shooting them will push them nocturnal.

                        I always use tall cattle panels except on my stand side. Use a hog panel on that side. Deer will come and jump on low side. You can use a pile of corn outside when hunting so they will stop and turn to eat and give you a qtr away shot.
                        Pig = practice in groups!

                          Good dogs won't run deer.

                            Hog panels. Two t posts per panel in a circle
                            Not cheap, but they last forever.

                              Very true. Good dogs couldn't care less about deer.
