Anyone remember Hurricane Alicia in 1983?

Yep. She spawned lots of tornadoes that uprooted trees and knocked out power for weeks. Project path of this one looks very similar.

I for sure remember Alicia!! Lived in Alief. My daughter was just a small baby... Wife and I were sweating bullets... Were terrified because of our daughter... Said we'd never ride another one out... Turned out OK, but sure was a scary time for us...

Also, the first person to lose her life in the storm was named Alicia...

I was just starting this thread for those who have travel plans along the gulf coast. I personally can't help make a decision on what you should or should not do. I am planning on cancelling going to Gulf Shores because of reasons I have already stated. Not a big deal since looks like I will have time to head to Leakey in late July for some axis hunting, arrowhead hunting and some of that Frio River. That sounds better actually. lol

We will see how things look tomorrow but it looks pretty messy along the Gulf Coast later this week and into the weekend with a possible tropical storm/hurricane in the mix.

Lol, we're at The Frio right now! Seems every time a potential hurricane approaches, we are here. Should have stayed here during Harvey, might do the same this coming weekend.

Johnny...I say keep your reservations. Itll be an arse load of rain as your leaving. Batten the hatches and bounce...I think by Saturday at least Sunday...youll see daylight on the hiney end of these systems on the Gulf Shores...whilst were getting dumped on here. No need to sit in the dark here...its gonna happen whether your here or not. However...I feel for your annoyance of 2 years beach vacation cooped up.

We’re supposed to be leaving to Galveston Thursday-Sunday. Calling in the morning to either cancel or hopefully reschedule. Don’t want to get trapped on Galveston island with an Rv and try to get off with it!
