From $5 to $14 a lb, according to that show about Tuna fisherman

      12,000.00 +/-

purely speculation on my part though

I've seen them go for $24/lb if the market is right and the quality of the fish is top shelf.

Edit, just looked up Japanese Wholesale for Bluefin Tuna:

          Fresh - 20,500 Yen/kg = $81,000 USD!
          Import- 5,500 Yen/Kg = $18,000 USD!

I'm sure there are Japanese Wholesalers in Houma that would buy it as fresh and overnight it to Japan.

Professional Sportsfishing /Billfishing people are multi-millionaires spending rediculous amounts of money on their passion / hobby. I doubt they're worried about selling a $15-20K fish. If I had to guess, that tuna will be eaten and respected by the Capt and deckhands

Off LA waters you can only harvest 1 BFT per year, as its strictly regulated and enforced by the wildlife and fisheries

Might make a monthly payment on that boat.
