Is your place high deer density? Can't wait to see some TC pics in July!
We have a Few Areas that Hold a high number of deer but, overall we have a avg. deer density across the ranch during Spring and Summer. Come season we have a Very High Deer Density but, Luckily they Disperse Post season.

Deer ate 3 1/2 tons in two weeks from 20 feeders. Rest of the feeders are under water and I'm sure many of my neighbors deer are pushed up on me. Doubt I can get him to pick up the tab for feeding his deer!

I doubt you complain when they come over to a corn feeder in November! lol

I have same situation with some neighbors. Feed and manage and lose some nice 3 and 4 year olds each year to the neighbors.

We have 3 1,000lb plus protein feeders on 400 acres and they are getting emptied every 3-4weeks. The deer are really hitting them since the fawns have dropped.

Our deer are continuing to hit the protein pretty hard. Seems each of our feeders is averaging 75-100 lbs per week.

I just crunched the numbers 22 protein feeders, 11 cottonseed feeders.

                    January-June 2015
                    Protein (Double Down)
                    1960 bags, 98,000lbs, 49 tons
                    Cottonseed
                    720 bags, 36,000lbs, 18 tons

                    January-June 2014
                    Protein (Record Rack)
                    1876 bags, 93,800lbs, 46.9 tons
                    Cottonseed
                    500 bags, 25,000lbs, 12.5 tons

Same deer numbers as last year, 10" of rain in the past 30 days, and they're eating MORE than the drought years?!?!?!!!

Those are some good numbers Peyton... I love seeing those HIGH protein consumption results too.

I've fed a ton out of two feeders since Friday. I'm sending my neighbor the bill as his deer are pushed up on me from floodwater.

I just added up consumption in Mexico thru April. Don't have May yet. Also didn't calculate cotton seed.

                            62 tons Jan-April 2014
                            60 tons Jan - April 2015.

The big difference is the cowboys haven't been able to feed consistently this year because of impassable muddy roads.

First year we've fed protein and on 1000 acres we went through 2500 lbs in 3 months. That's 27 lbs a day. This is in Concho county, all brushy country. Seem about normal?

What does that work out per deer/day?

                                Cottonseed per deer/day?
