We need some rain. The beans and peas are ok but an inch of rain would boost the heck out of them.
The dadgum hogs are giving me fits....not so much with the beans...but they are eating the sudan sorghum I planted for a screen.
They are also eating the grain sorghum I planted in the plot.
KAP!!!
They are eating a few beans and I/C peas but its very minimal.

Went out to my place to hunt for arrowheads. I surface hunted the creek for about 2 hours but came up empty.
I ended up doing some tractor work too....made the waterhole I dug earlier this year a little deeper......it was almost dry with no rain in a month. We have a big rain event forecast the next few days so hopefully they will refill.
I also dug out a very old low spot with the box blade. This thing should really hold water. Come on t u r d floater!
Plots need some rain bad. The big stuff is doing ok but the small plants need a drink big time.

Overall my summer plots didn't turn out well. Between the drought at my place this summer and the deer and hogs....the beans and peas were wiped out. The haygrazer screen was wiped out by the hogs.
Croton started taking over so I shredded it today for dove season. We killed several limits here last year....whitewings and mourners.
After shredding I used my box blade to "disk" it. My disk broke so I had to improvise. It works well when you lower the tines on the lowest setting.
I'll plant this field in Cereal Rye (not rye grass), oats, clover, and radishes when I return from my elk hunt in mid-Sept.
My water holes still have not filled.
Hopefully this rain will come and drench it.
