I work in a plant, so a fancy watch to work won’t do. My daily wear used to be a simple Timex with the white face for $29 at any Walmart nationwide. They worked fine and like the saying goes, “Timex takes a licking and keeps on ticking”.

When I started racing bicycles in my 30’s (yes) i asked the wife for a Festina titanium watch for an anniversary present. I love this watch still today. Rolex is a great timepiece, but I figured if Festina was the timekeepers for all European auto racing, that was good enough for me.

Years later she bought me a $1000+ Movado watch fo our anniversary, with the black face and single diamond. Yes it’s a pretty watch, but I’m not a “pretty stuff” kind of guy. I asked if she’d mind if we took it back and got me a watch that I’d wear every day. That would mean more to me as an anniversary present than one I wore once or twice a year. She understood and off we went to Bass Pro Shops for a black and orange Lummox with the rubber strap. It’s replaced Timex as a daily wear watch even though it cost over 10 times as much.

With some of the leftover money I bought her a pair of Rose Gold Costa Del Mar sunglasses that she had been all dreamy over but would never buy for herself.

When the guy walked in to my office at jonathanswatchbuyer to get an offer on his watch, I was pretty excited to find out it was my year 1968, the year I was born.

I purchased the 1968 from www.jonathanswatchbuyer.com
I paid 800 and had the watch serviced and added a new crystal.. replacement bracelet I also purchased from Jonathan’s Fine Jewelers in Houston 2 years later..
