    DIY safe room

I built this "safe" room in my DIY barndo. It should protect valuable items.
It also forms a wall in the living area and a place for a wood burning stove. The mantle is just sitting atop the round stock in the wall at the moment. When the slab of oak I cut dries there will be holes bored in the back so it will slide over them creating a floating mantle.

Lots and lots of sweat went into making this as I did all the work myself. Moved many a pound of steel, wood and rock.

How big is the room? Or is it more a wall?

The safe room is 14’ long 8’ tall and 8’ wide. I still needs a vault door which I will build in the future.

Strong work, sir. How did you anchor to the floor? My assumption would be bolts.....and if so, how many? Reason I ask is that I am assuming this will be tornado shelter as well.

I used Hilti brand anchors spaced 12” on center. They were quite expensive compared to ones you find at the big box stores.
