Came across some hogs on way back to camp. Were on either side of me. Shot one. Bloody arrow. Not alot of blood on ground. Came back for better light. Headed back out to track.

Zero blood trail. Grid searched and nothing. There is a dead hog somewhere.... just not in my cooler.

Back at it again this morning. Hunting a different area. Sitting on a small platform built into a clump of cedars near a funnel.

Good luck. Hot, still, and humid here in Cherokee county.

A little more info about last night's hog.

I was walking back towards camp when I decided to take the shortcut along a narrow road back to camp. I figured with the moonlight, I might run into some pigs. There were 2 other leasemates nearby... and I figured they were going the easier main road route.

No sooner than 70 yards down this path, I find myself right in the middle of a pack of pigs. They are eating up acorns, but concealed by the cedar brush. I have hogs literally 10 yards either side of me. I stay to the shadow side and wait... waiting for a pig to cross.

About 3 to 5 minutes go by and I am having to slowly creep forward as they eat slowly away from me. Finally a pig from my right crosses left he does so in a shadow though. He stops on the edge and I draw. It takes a second for my eyes to adjust and I am low and forward.

The arrow flies into the darkness and it lets out a loud squeal and all hell breaks loose. I got a ****** off hog running up and off somewhere giving of grunts... and I now have pigs 360 degrees scurrying and growling. I carefully back out... arrow knocked in case another pig runs by. I get several more growls as I make it back to the road. To make a long story short... a buddy happened to be at the top of the road waiting for the other guy... during the commotion he nocked an arrow and a pig ran out towards him and he skewerd it.

When we went back for mine... there arrow was about 5 yards up from where he ran... but no more blood we could see from there.

I've done that a few times with my compound. Hard to get precise arrow placement when it's tough to pick a good spot in low light.

You're not the lone ranger! Only squirrels for me, all 3 days now.
