I inherited my grandads browning lever action. Super accurate and super fun to shoot. I shot my first squirrel with it and probably a million rounds through it growing up. Still doesn't miss a beat! I would definitely consider one of them

Lots of good options listed, but the Henry is where I would go. Nothing says America like a levergun.

I would buy that Marlin 39 in the classifieds here

77/22 or a cz455. Sake Quad or CZ455 precision trainer if you want to go all in. Maybe a Jarrett Squirrel king or a 40x

I really like the 10/22 and the takedown is pretty handy. With that said the Savege with the Accu trigger that I have is a real shooter. I usually pick up one of those two. I would make sure and get a threaded barrel, but that is just me. A 22 with a can and sub-sonic is great for picking off varmints.

I have a Browniing BLR 22, not sure if has been fired. In excellent condition. Will survive your great grandkids!

+1 or 2 for the CZ and Savage .22 LR. Two of the most accurate .22 LR's I've ever shot, even compared to my 'custom' Ruger 10/22.
