I plan on playing with a few different bullets in mine as well, the FTX are pretty pricey but look very promising. I recovered a slug out of my dirt mound and it was a very good mushroom that measured 1.15” in diameter and weighed 275 grains.
Interesting info on the bullet expansion, sounds like it will do a lot of damage.

Mine is a SBR with a muffler on it.

Crux ARK45.
I run the same can on my 450 Marlin and my 460 Rowland Glock 21 long slide.
The can is rated up to a 416 Cheytac.

Get you some lancer A5 mags. That is the recommended mag for the Socom round.

Go ahead and spend the $$ and get one of Clint’s buffers from heavy buffers.com.
Mine runs flawlessly.

Originally posted by RifleBowPistol View PostI already did that. I bought a JP Enterprises heavy duty buffer kit, with the assorted springs for another gun. Wound up using one of the lighter springs. I knew I should get either a adjustable gas block or another JP Enterprises buffer and experiment with the springs. The only gas block I found with a .936" bore, was something like $280. I decided getting another JP Enterprises buffer and start off with one of the heavier springs was the way to go. So that's how I have the gun set up now. I need to get a trigger for it and see how it shoots. I want to try a CMC trigger, I have tried a few at guns shows, they seem pretty good and not bad pricing. From what I have read so far, a stronger buffer springs seems to be a must for the 458 SOCOM. I have read that because of the stronger buffer spring required, it is not recommended to drop the bolt, with only one round in the mag. That with the lower resistance with on one round in the mag, it might slam fire, because of the stronger buffer spring. So I am thinking, I am probably also going to look for some titanium firing pins. They are supposed to help prevent slam fires. I have been wanting some for a couple of other rifles, so I may just buy three or four of them. A buddy of mine found some very cheap a while back, I should have bought some.
