Yes both oaks will have acorns. The root system on these trees is unbelievable and with the hybrid vigor...hopefully in 5-6 years. Those tree tubes act like a greenhouse so the trees are basically self watering because the dew collects inside the tube and drips down to the tree every morning.

I disked and nuked the plot with gly 10 days ago and then cultipacked so the seeds would a small rut to fall into.

I also planted some sudan sorghum (hay grazer) for a screen around the plot.
The switchgrass is starting to show but not a lot of it. Didn't get good germination for some reason.

Rain is expected early next week. Was kicking up a lot of dust today.

Once the seeds fall into the ruts I use a chain harrow drag to cover. Then I cultipack again to make good soil/seed contact.

Your doing it right for sure! I wish sawtooth oak grew well in my area, cant beat having acorns in 3-5 yrs!

That's a heck of a cultipacker. Now you need to invest in a 3-pt broadcaster.

Most parts of the food plots didn't have enough moisture to germinate the beans and peas yet.

Some low lying spots did though...

The screen around the plot are doing well. Mix of switchgrass and sudan sorghum. Put lots of nitrogen on it today ahead of the approaching rain.

Very nice work.....I like the little pond as well, if you have pigs they will probably tear that up pretty good when it gets hot and they decide to make it their bath tub.....nice place though!

Checked on the plot today. Got 2 inches of rain in the last week. It has various stages of germination and growth but its looking good.
