I've owned 6 different climbing stands and hunt public lands nearly most of my life (truth).
That climbing stand was specifically made for climbing mesquite trees. And is popular in far SW Texas where the trees are shorter. Give it a practice shot before you go.
(Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for harm done by climbing, falling, thorns, cactus punctures or any other possible injuries during your stand use.)

Climbing stand
If you decide to go with a climber....Check out "Third hand climbing stand stabilizing straps". They will connect top to bottom, and stabilize both while in the hunting position. At 70 , I don't use my climbers as much as I used to, but these straps make me feel much more secure when I do.
