                  That came out great. The older guns typically had much nicer walnut on them. Even the cheap guns. The wood that comes on guns in the past 30 to 40 years, typically is bland, unless it's some premium grade.

                    X2.....the cold blue will never be the same as the original blue,but will show off the stock much better. Heat the metal in the stove so the blue will sizzle a little when applied. Be sure it is oil free before applying the blue.

                      Back in the early days,the wood wasn't graded. You got what came out of the tree.

                        I have the same gun. It was my first when I was 7 in 1987. My dad traded another boy for one in the 40's for a bike. Handed it down to me and now I to my 7 year old son.
