Matador WMA: LIVE!

Heading out tomorrow mid-day for the antlerless hunt at Matador. My son and I were both drawn. Wish we were going to chase bone but I’ll take what we got! Plan was to pitch a tent but the weather folks are saying 20-30 mph winds Saturday and Sunday so the tent will stay home! We should hit Childress about 10:30pm, catch a hotel room and drive in to the WMA Saturday morning before orientation.

My son will be shooting his Savage 270 and I’ll be carrying my 25-06. We’ll bring his 7mm-08 for back up. The hunt goes from the 15th to the 20th but we have to cut it short and be back in Jasper by EOD the 18th due to other obligations the rest of the week.

good luck! I hunted the Archery hunt this year and saw a bunch.

We made to the hotel in Childress. Little later than anticipated thanks to the DFW metro mess. About to get some shut eye. We’ll be up and at it early in the morning. Got to stop at Walmart for a few things then head to the WMA for orientation.
