Been the same exact menu for as long as I can remember. My dads told me that was what they ate every weekend when he was a kid at their lease with my grandpa. The S.O.S. has been a staple in the family for generations. It’s so easy but so good.

During hunting season we try to use the crock pot for the evening meal. Load it up midday and let it cook on low. When we come in it’s ready to eat. If anyone has an animal to take care of they can still have a hot meal regardless of what time they finish.
We tend to use a crock pot for roasts and pork dishes and many other things, well go out feeding feeders, doing maintenance or whatever projects. We'll set it up around lunch time and go out, by the time is well dark and we get back to camp it's ready.. pretty awesome. We also do steaks on the grill, burgers, my dad will fry fish for the group sometimes and it's a treat when our beloved cajuns make jambalaya.. we typically plan about 2 weeks in advance to get all the supplies and whos bringing what for which night etc..
We do crock pot dinners only, start it before sunup. Beagles and coffe or breakfast, sack lunch. And we don't get back to camp until well after 10:00 at night. Still don't get to bed until about midnight. Grilling and stuff we don't get much sleep.
Prime Filets, blackened redfish, ribeyes.....we aren’t mad at the animals anymore. We go to eat like kings, drink a bunch of beer and hang out by the fire. If you shoot a deer you have to clean the dang thing.
There have been times in deer camp where I gained more weight in three days than I could in three weeks back home. I try to do burgers, steaks, sausage, pork chops, etc....anything I can grill. I am not going to go hungry at deer camp. To me part of the fun is cooking out in the evenings with whoever is in camp. If we have several people in camp we just throw whatever we have on the grill and share the food. Breakfast tacos and sandwiches are easy for breakfast and lunch. Heck, you can pick up fried chicken on the way to the lease with sides.
