    KAS = kill all squirrels.
My dogs told me to type this. They hate em.
My dog said squirrels are squeaky toys from God.

Guess my family has a super charged immune system. Don’t think I have ever squirrel hunted after a freeze since it’s deer season.....unless you count May.

That's an old wives' tale. You hear the same with rabbits.

Or if it is just the counties that rake in money from the pecan industry that petitioned TPWD to let them hammer the squirrel?

            That is a good question.

So what you actually want is a closed squirrel season

I have not been in a while. But Opening day of squirrel in SWLA is one of my favorite childhood memories! Bigger deal than dove season in TX.

We don't ever get a "good freeze" in SWLA. And the squirrels are always tasty. I like the medium sized greys. The big fox squirrels taste more like cat.

Have a daily visitor in my yard I leave alone.

Without her I think my dogs would be awfully bored

Ate many a breakfast of fried cat squirrel, biscuits and gravy.

Which is probably why I take blood pressure and cholesterol meds now.

                      But dang it's good.

Squirrel hunting as a kid and teenager with an open sight 22 sure made me a better shot. Always tried to shoot them in the head so I wouldn't mess them up too bad.
And the kicker is that I don't really like the taste of squirrels. I always found someone who wanted them before I went hunting.

From what I hear those big grey cat squirrels in deep east texas are totally more difficult to hunt that those little turds we have in north texas.

They are hard to hunt in LA for sure. We used to run dogs after them.

The Houston newpaper is even writing about squirrel hunting today.

Yep. Shoot em in the face so you don't mess up the meat. (thumbs up smilie)
