I just got word that our place southwest of Hext got 5.2 inches last night. They received 5 inches at the Hext Trading Post at 29 and FM 1221. The bigger hail was north of Hext and south of London. Another big storm cell is forming now from Angelo and headed for Eden, Brady and Menard.

We got another inch of rain last night and got some more this morning. This has been a crazy couple of days for rain out there.

I have two acres of that stuff on my land that I need to turn I to a yard
        How do you do it?
Was told to keep cutting it and it'll smooth out but lots of weeds grow in it now
I want to throw down some k31/rye/centipede mix

My dad just got out there. We got right at 4in total for the past two days. Our friends that are around 2.5 miles north of us on FM 1311 got nearly 6in total. That should help!

That’s awesome! Glad y’all got some moisture! We are still dry in SE Mason County, but it’ll be our turn soon hopefully.

              5-19-2018 Update

The deer are hammering the cottonseed so we topped the cottonseed feeders off as well as the protein feeders. We ended up getting another 0.5in of rain this past weekend which puts us at 6in for the month of May. We got enough to fill the ponds, fill the San Saba river and make everything green...I hope it continues.

Here are some pictures from the weekend:

                  Big Pond_6-1-2018

The big pond is still full. Last year it filled up and we noticed a leak on the dam which trickled water constantly. I'm not sure how it's not leaking but somehow it isn't leaking anymore. Here are some pictures. It's around 80 yards wide by 140 yards long right now. We had a john boat on the bank about 30 yards above the pond and it somehow got washed away in the big rains a couple of weeks ago. We haven't been able to find the boat so it's probably at the bottom of the pond. We are hoping one day we will be able to drill a well to keep this pond at a constant level. Here are some pictures:

Looking good out there. Have you seen any fawns yet?

We saw some fawns walking around two weeks ago so I’m guessing they started dropping around beginning or middle of May.

Here is a picture my dad took from the house of a doe and her fawn. She looks to be a month old or so and in good health.

                                6-26-2018 Update

It's been very hot out there lately and everything seems to be drying up prett quickly out there. The last time we received any rain was on May 20th, so things are starting to turn brown out there.

We put out another load of cottonseed and cleaned out all of the water troughs. They are really hammering the protein.
