So the top portion of the octagon is actually red oak. I used apple cider vinegar and believe it or not good ole fashioned liptons iced tea. Apparently there are these things called tannons that are lacking in pine but are abundant in oak. And tea has plenty... 10 tea bags later... applied liberaly and wiped in. Then hit it with the vinegar. Ill hit it with a spray polycoat tomorrow.

Next step for the table display. There are two warthogs that will go on these. Walnut skull and cedar stands.

Do you have any build plans you can share? I need to build a pedestal for an axis mount.

Are looking for an octagon pedestal??? If so http://www.pagetutor.com/octagon_layout/

I bought a 22.5 degree router bit. And go to town. Let me know if you have any questions... also buy a strap clamp.
