    Ammo choice for 25-06

I picked up a Savage 110 25-06. I not one that buys the hi-grade ammo. So Core-Lokt, Winchester CP2, or Federal will have to do.

But I would like to know what grain most people use for deer, axis, hogs? I wouldn't think I would ever have a shot over 200 yards. I have seen 90, 100, 115, and 120 grain. What does eveyone think

    Thanks

You need to shoot whatever the gun likes...my first choice/test would be the Federal Fusion in 120gr if available.

I have a box of the Federal Fusion 120Gr to try. Also have a box of Core Lokt in 120GR & 100gr.

My remington likes the 117 gr. from Hornady and it isn't much more than the others. I would try to stay with the 115 or the 120.

I've always used Federal Premium in 117grain.

What your gun groups well. HP tend to group better. For a deer, you don't need a huge grain bullet. Get one that is going FAST and fragments into the lungs and that will take them down. The key with anything is accuracy so see what shoots well.

Momma D's Pro Hunter in 25.06 LOVES the Hornady in 117g

It has killed deer and a few large hogs.

My Sendero loved the Hornady 117 grain. It also shot the 85 grain Winchester Ballistic Tips well but didn't group the Federal Premiums at all. After shooting various rounds of hand loads, the gun picked a 117 grain Sierra bullet.

This is what my Browning seems to prefer.
