What can we make from a Dog bone?

I picked up a Dog chew from TSC for $3.
I looked for one that was as thick and flat as I could find. I cut the flattest side off and flatten it to a uniform thickness of about 3/16. Then I randomly jigged it with a Dremmel tool and charred it with a torch.
Here is a test I did on a sample piece.

Here they are mocked up on a knife I'm making for my brother.

And here they are almost done.

They are just the right size for 1911 grips also.

That looks really nice, big difference from what I thought you were going to do with it- thought you were going to soak it in water, flatten it out, and then make a knife sheath from it. I did that a few years ago and it came out nice - bah, my mistake, I thought that was a rawhide bone and that's what I had used. Very nice job there though.

There is a reason Bone has been used for many a moon on knives. Its my new favorite. The pictures don't do this justice.

Now that's pretty cool, definitely wasn't expecting a knife from the thread title. Interested in the details on the ring you're wearing in the video too?

Its a ring my wife gave me before we were married and I was about 125 Lbs heavier. I wrapped it with telephone wire so it wouldn't fall off.

I've rubbed on it all I can stand.
I'm going to try a folder next.

You'll like it Sam. Super glue and baking soda works great for fixing bad spots in the bone if you pick a bad one.
