My dad was an alcoholic, he passed in 2002 from liver failure and pancreatitis. He stopped drinking in the mid 90's, but it was too late, 30 years of drinking caught up with him. I always enjoy hearing stories like the ones in this thread of guys who got clean and have lived full lives.

Thanks for sharing. I got pulled over on the way back from the lease last weekend. Officer said he saw my cooler and wanted to know if I had been drinking. Not in over 16 years, I said, feel free to check out my cooler. He told me he didn't see the need. Great feeling - to God goes the glory.
