I cut those down every chance I get. They seem to grow in oak mottes under the trees and make it pretty hard to get through.

Think Ill go with elbow bush. Seems they only produce every 3-5 years, which would make sense to me. I've had this place about 5 years and never seen fruit on it til this year.

It's definitely not Texas persimmon. My place in the hill country is covered up with persimmon and they don't grow fruit in clusters like that.

Only persimmons Ive ever seen are quite a bit bigger, and absolute deer magnets. I have two trees in my yard and take 5 gallon bucket fulls to the stand with me. They never fail.

Im gonna give "lab man" the win on this one. I tied the top of the tree to the ground for the chickens. They loved it.

Leaf is all wrong for mustang grape> fruit is similar though. It's elbow bush.
