Looking for recommendations on a tuna trip with some friends on the upper coast, from matagorda to Galveston area. Any information is appreciated.

How many folks are you talking about? Bluefin Charters out of Freeport 6-10 guys. If I was doing less than that I would be headed to Venice.

I'm a chef and can buy sushi grade tuna but much rather catch it.

I don't get it.
8 people will put you above the usual six packs. The Paparda Rey may be able to take more. Take a look at them. They are really good.

Go to venice. Look up capt. Hunter with Paradise Outfitters. He will put you on them, plus on a custom 42' cat center console getting out there fast.

Lot's of Venice fans. I suppose for a charter it's perhaps a better option than Texas. Mainly because the run is shorter.

That said, Texas grows 'em big too.

Give these guys a call. Decent rates, fast boat and sized properly for your Charter.
Out of Freeport Texas. Close to home and you can rent a Surfside beach house to stage out of and have a blast!
