Where to find a 3x3 post?

I need a 3x3 post for a furniture build and I cannot find one. I also can't find anyone locally to rip a 4x4 down to a 3x3. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a great reason to buy a table saw....craigslist even

Dumb question from an amateur woodworker....is there a reason most people won't rip a 4x4 down to a 3x3? I got a handful of very quick NOs when I asked around.

Don't know why someone with a 12" table saw couldn't do it.

10" will do it! the blade on my Craftsman 10" table saw will raise high enough to rip a 4x4 down to a 3x3. Just ripped some 2x4's sitting on edge, same width or height as a 4x4.

A cabinet shop might plain one down.

                    Or find a cheap plainer.

Another option is to run it thru a planer until you have it dimensioned.

                        I appreciate the offer man.

For those that mentioned planing it down. Are handheld planers pretty effective? If so, do you have a brand/model you would recommend?

                        Thanks in advance.

                          Not for a 4x4

Makita hand planers are my brand of choice, but again, not very effective for planning 1" off of 2 sides of a 4x4... table saw is much easier and you'll use it more in the long run
