His budget. German glass/tolerance/quality control worth the money if you re willing to spend it. 300 yards you don't need a 6x zoom.

I'm typically not a FFP fan for the reasons you stated, but I think they may be ideal on rifles used at very close (home defense/predator hunting) ranges, as long as the scope also has an illuminated dot.

At 1x, the "clutter" on the reticle will disappear and you aim using the dot with the wide portions of the duplex reticle drawing your eye to it, like a German #4 reticle. When you zoom in for longer shots, the drop/windage markings appear as needed.

Yeah I've been reading more and more about the steiner...it's on the list. Really digging the Leupold vx6 multigun due to it being less than 15oz.

So far Ive been very impressed: Vortex Razon HD Gen II

Ended up getting it for $1,289.96 shipped.

Looking closely at the Leupold multigun and Steiner as well, they seem on par with what I'm looking for, Steiner has the advantage in brighter dot, Leupold is lighter and 6x

I have leupold VX6 1-6 multi gun scope with Fire Dot on my SBR and have been extremely pleased with it so far.

For the amount you have to spend, this is where I would put my money. The CMR reticle is sweet and with a max 6x power it can reach out with no issues.

I have considered this with offset irons, from what I understand a larger objective will be better for low light transmission
