Well.....No bird points today! I worked and got some bifaces done with lots of good workable flakes.

I started on a really good piece but was messing it up so I switched to a different piece of lower quality, raw uncooked, tough central Texas chert. Not the best work but this raw chert is tough!!!

been gathering dead/weather cholla for knife handles. Got 70 handle stock so far. Got to get them while I can as cholla doesn't grow in Michigan, lol

They graded the road in front of my house again. Went for a stroll and picked up some more rocks Too bad it got dark before I could bust any of them up.

It is the same material bassmatt. Need some? Jason Fry, you have access to alibates in your neck of the woods?

No alibates nearby. It's usually further north up in the panhandle.

I might trade some central Texas chert for a couple of pieces! Don't make too much of an extra effort but throw a few in the bucket for me just incase we can get together!

Is that your only source of rocks? Send me a PM with your address and I'll send you some of what I have!

Yes and no. I had a buddy bring me a bunch from the Concho river as well. About 1/3 of the stuff from the road knapps well, and about 1/2 of the Concho stuff. I also bought some Keokuk, dacite, heat treated Texas, and obsidian from Neolithics at Christmas. I've got plenty of rocks to play with, and I can be a bit discriminating on only using the ones that work well.

Hope we can get together next month. I will give you some cholla if we do. The knife in my avatar is sitting on a metate that I found here in New Mexico years ago and the antler drop is a matched set 6 point that I found next to the RV Park we stay at in Texas. The owner gave me permission to walk around the vacant land next to the park and pick up anything I wanted and I found 18 antler drops in two days.

I have been known to make a little gravel from time to time. Arthur-itus don't like it when I do this anymore.
