    refurbished remington 600 308

I came across this rifle back in late summer last year. the stock needed work and the bore on the factory barrel was in bad shape. I had a Remington factory 700 barrel cut to 20" recrowned and screwed in. then I replaced the triggerguard, polished the bolt up, adjusted the trigger (has had the recall), refinished the stock with a tung oil finish and glass bedded the action. cant wait to go try some handloads out in it.

No don't. It had the slim factory barrel with the vent rib on it which was broken in one place with several rust spots. The stock is a little bit too glossy. I may try to tone it down a little bit

I have one and have kicked around the idea of re-barreling to a different caliber as well. For some reason, I thought the starting point of the threads on a 700 vs the 600 were 180degrees off and would cause the information (manufacture / caliber) to be 180 degrees off as well.
                            Is that true?
Did the 600 have a different recoil lug than the 700?

Did you strip the previous finish? I've got a 700 I want to refinish but don't know exactly how to tackle the checkering in the stock. I feel like I need to strip it to do it right.
