Going to buy a Ruger American Predator in 308. Looking at two different pieces of glass. Vortex® Viper® HS Long-Range 30mm Riflescope 4-16 x 44 30mm tube for $400.00 plus tax, or the Leupold® VX-3i 30mm CDS Riflescope 4.5-14 x 40 30mm tube for around $540.00 plus tax. Is the Leupold glass worth the extra coin?

Yes.. Also the eye relief sucks on my Viper 4x16. Decent for what I paid and what it's on but nothing to brag about

I have several Leupolds and one Viper PST. I like the PST more but apparently, the Viper H-S is a vastly different scope by what the others have said. That being said, I hunted with a VX3 for decades. If you're not shooting LR, go with the Leupold.

I would go with the Leupold. I think you should consider the 6.5 Creedmoor.
