Best Metallica song?
Originally posted by Burntorange Bowhunter View PostNot really weird. The images of satan, hell and death can push people away, even metalheads.
I first heard Hell Awaits in 85, the year it came out. Fully on board ever since. Skipped school on the day Reign in Blood hit the shelves. Made them go to the back and find it as soon as they opened. Lol.
Metallica is easily the "biggest" metal band ever.
Priest, Maiden and especially Sabbath get thier due.

Actually you are spot on with the Satan stuff. I tend to stay away from the blatant stuff.
Bands I have stayed away from because of that or being to far out there:
Eyehategod
Lamb of God
Ghost
Goatwhore
Slayer
Slipknot

Pretty much all metallica songs are greatness... One I didn't see mentioned, that I think is just awesome is No Leaf Clover performed live with the Transiberian Orchestra. https://youtu.be/Sh5S3OxiE-s

SLAYER wins.
The Sepultura you mention was always easily my #2. With the last two performances of Lamb of God that I have seen I finally inched them above Sepultura into the 2 spot. If you consider all time live performances and power it's not really close. Slayer, LOG.............then everyone else.

Lamb Of God is up there on my list also. The first time I saw them was at reliant with shadows fall and slipknot. I'm just not sure if they are in my top three ,top five yes.
For some reason I have been listening to a lot of Gojira, they have moved up on my list as well. I also love me those two female metal vocals from Butcher Babies and Jinjer
