Are you wet sanding it or dry? I know on an old boat I had that was oxidized bad from the sun I wet sanded it all the way up to 1200 grit and put a good wax on it and it shined like new. If I did it again I would probably do the same but then at the end, use a plastic polish made for cars to do the final shine on it .

Academy has those 10 ft square ,pop up canopies for sale....when I rebuilt the engine on my son's truck in the summer,I used one. It is amazing how much cooler it is underneath one of them.

Transom is solid. I made sure of that before I bought it.

There was no kind of oxidation, at least that I could tell. Scratches and chips are the only real issues I'm dealing with. Everything I have seen in YouTube was dry sanded so that's the route I was taking. A fine wet sand and polish do sound good though. I want it to shine!

I may look into a canopy. That could make it a little less miserable.

If I have a day off where we are at the coast, I will stop by with my sander and a cool one or 6

BTW, we close on 9/8 neighbor!

Even if you don't have a sander you can still stop by with 1 or 6!!

Congrats!!!! There will be a lot of beer and fish missing down there once we are both set up.

I decided to spare y'all another photo of a sanded boat. I'm sanding the first 5 feet from the bow down to the underside. The flat bottom of the boat will get a special super slick paint at a later date

I dare say it's as slick and blemish free as the day she left the majek factory. Her former glory is one step closer to being restored.
