The deer camps I was around as a kid, traditionally cut the shirtail off the clothes you hunted in. They also insisted on frying and eating the "manly" parts of the buck ,which I did. They were all right but not near as tasty as calf fries.

Some of us here apparently are often missing shirttails after hunting

I did nothing with the heart of the first deer I killed, but I have tried the heart cooked and it was tough and nasty.
