My Dad used to refinish gun stocks for people. After sanding old finish off and have it down to where he wanted it he would wipe it down with Clorox bleach to eliminate any dark spots, resand after it dries and then apply stain/finish. Also he would use a wet rag and a electric iron to pull dents out of the wood.

    Your stock looks good.

It was really really hard to make myself do it, but it can be easily stripped back off... after hunting season is over!

LakeJake, look into the armorall and tru oil combo. Lets you get the coats on right after the other.

My cousin had an old Stevens like that. I shot it many times. It was a workhorse !

I have collected a few single shots. Win 67 and 68, couple of Remington 513's.

I have bought a few pawn shop single shot .22's over the years. I still look when I go into a pawn shop. They have all been Remington model 510's. They are getting harder to find now.

We used to have a 84a. Leave the bolt out and it’s a semiauto, push it in and it’s a single shot. One of my favorites.

I have hoards of old pawn shop guns handed down to me from my dad and never even considered refinishing them. So many potential projects! Really neat to see, thanks.
