just went through this with my FIL last month (Alzheimer's)

and my 90 yr old grandmother is days away from going to heaven (her kidneys shut down and no longer eating/drinking fluids)

both were provided hospice care to make them as comfortable as possible over the last week of life

I'm praying and my heart is aching right along with you. My father has been battling cancer since being diagnosed at Thanksgiving. He's really gone downhill in the last few weeks. He can no longer walk or talk. He lost use of his entire right arm and leg, and we hand feed him around 2-300 calories per day. My prayer is for God to restore his body and mind completely, even if it's in Heaven. Prayers for your dad and family as well.
