A buddy of mines FIL pulled his new DXT back when he first got it and dry fired it. I was standing there. Pieces went everywhere. The look on his face. [emoji15]. Doesn’t sound like your was as bad. Archery shop was able to put his back together (required new limbs) in short order and many deer since never could tell the difference.

I dry fire my old Switchback all the time. Doesn't seem to hurt it one bit. After all it is a Mathews.

We’ll just got back from West Houston Archery and Rich got me all fixed up. Looked everything over and all that was needed was a new string and mods. Had to order the mods so should have it back in a week or so. Looks like I dodged a bullet!
