New hog trap

Made this trap over the last couple of days. I used 10 old 6 foot hog pen gates. Had to extend the height and weld on 4x4 cattle panels. Also built a 4’ wide gate. Pretty easy to haul and pen together. Gonna bait a few days then set it.

New hog trap

I didn’t take pictures of trigger. I use a 1/4” rod attached to the panel behind the gate. It has a “L” bent in it that I hook to the gate. I then run bailer twine or heavy nylon fishing line from there to the side and across to another panel. I use the same system on all my traps. I set it high enough that small pigs and coons will not trip it.

Second catch! First was 3 pregnant sows, didn’t get pics. Had 3 pregnant sows and 2 pigs this morning.

I like that design--my 100' pen trap works for me but I have to climb over the wire to get to the dead ones as I can't stoop low enough to get thru the doors--too old for such stuff.

My dad says over 100. I’ve caught and killed 14 pregnant sows in the last 2 weeks or so!
