    7.3 question

Has anyone ever had any mpg difference by cleaning or replacing the exhaust gas back pressure sensor that is in front of the hpop and the tube that connects to exhaust pipe

I have a 2002 7.3 and changed the complete exhaust from the turbo back and don't recall any sensors. Is the sensor before the turbo? Mine didn't even come with a converter, some did, all depended on where they were built.

Yes. My 2001.... Replaced the sensor since the old one was choked full of soot and cleaned out the tube. It was choked as well. Mph went up by 1.5 and the warm up was much better on cold days with no more jumping to high rpms.

Mine runs great but it has a hissing when it's cold so I was trying to look up and see if this was the cause

It is....That is the high rpms I was talking about.

It will still do it some... as it is supposed to, but it won't be immediate every time you start it like it does when the sensor/pipe is clogged. Its a quick easy fix if you don't have a second alternator. I had to take off my second alternator to make mine easier....

I cleaned my tube with square weedeater line, a dewalt drill and brake cleaner.

Not all 94-97s had cats either, it just depends on what plant they were made at
