I took the shot with a sony dsc2 point and shoot. I took too many shots to count until i got the perfect shot. What should my shutter speed be when shooting lightning? Thanks for the advice and kind words

Any shutter speed works if you have great timing like you did. To improve your odds, you can set a slower shutter speed - even a few seconds long if you can get away with it without overexposing everything. The longer the shutter is open, the more chances you have of having lightning strike in your camera's field of view. During daylight like your shot though, getting several seconds worth of open shutter would be pretty hard.
