Here is the setup I used for the water droplets.
If you view full size, you can see the drops focused in the LCD using the 40D "Live View" mode. You can see the glass resting on the cups, which are resting on the chairs. I used an ironing board (since I can adjust it up/down) to get the subject positioned behind the glass at the right height. I used anywhere from F9 - F25, but found it varied depending on what angle/subject I was using. For this particular picture I used a nasal spray bottle filled with water to make individual drops. The pictures with TONS of drops I used a spray bottle. (Sprayed right onto the glass)
I think the most important thing to me (besides live view as it made manual focusing much easier) was I had to apply RainX to the glass because the water wouldn't bead like I hoped when I first started trying for this. I remembered how well the water beaded off my windshield when I RainX'd my truck, and I got lucky that it worked in this situation also.
It took a lot of practice and trial and error until I started getting them to turn out right. I also messed around with a focus stacking program (its free) called Combinezm that essentially takes 2-3 photos and combines them so that the focus parts are each photo come through. (Similar to HDR effect) I didnt use it too much, but it did come in handy on a few of the ones posted below. After messing with it a bit, I found it was easier to just shoot between F13 and F25 when possible.
One more thing, I had a lamp on its side to shine light between the glass and the subject. Pretty much anything overhead would cause crazy reflections.
