I have a hammer gun 16ga/9.3 x 74 that is still serviceable but not as new looking as yours. With low brass shot shells I have hunted birds a little. It is fun to shoot a hammer gun.

I have two in the 50" range and enjoy very much looking at them. Because of the curl the extra inches will not show up as looking that much longer. Enjoy the hunt and looking at the animals.

A 20 ga. would have been better for the beginner. Maybe less frustration with misses and wounding. A 410 is best left to the very experienced shooter.

Do some research using the serial number and you will learn the mfg. date and gauge. Where is the barrel. If it is a 16 ga. I have a barrel I might sell, it is not a ribbed barrel.

You do not need vinegar of any kind. A dry rub of your choice and slow cook 275 for 8-10 hrs. I may at times wrap in foil after 4-6 hrs and finish this way. Non wrapping will give you a better bark....
