Don't know anything about the Bergara rifle but the .300 Win Mag is a great all around cartridge. It has been my goto cartridge since I bought a Weatherby Vanguard in that caliber in 1978.

I don't have a 585 but I gave a 500 in 20 ga, bored Improved Cylinder and Modified 26" barrels. I bought it new in the early '70s. It's been a great shotgun.
