Being new to an area I would buy a deer tag for CO and look for elk on the side. Half the price and gives you time to scout things out for next time. Early Oct. is early for the midwestern states....

I have a hard time believing they would survive in this warm climate in south Texas but am sure they could adapt if the food and water is there. Even when they are around, sightings will be rare....

Freezer quit, bummer

Spent my winter in south Texas. Just got home to find out my freezer
took a dump and about 100 pounds of venison, elk and pork is spoiled.
The smell had not got too bad yet but it was a nasty job...

The US Fish and Wildife service just delisted wolves in the Midwest. I know
it is not a big deal here in Texas but every hunter and rural farmer back home

I just got my Answer after a six week wait. 70 pounds with a 30 inch draw. It sure is sweet shooting but when you get a new bow every five years, it is easy to see why.
