College Football 2019 - Week 3

This one should be a bit more light hearted...maybe.

Licking wounds here. Offense was terrible against Clemson. Weíll get well against Lamar on Saturday night I am sure. I guess Iíll be there. [emoji51]

And Iíll repeat my post from late Saturday night, I donít want to face LSU or UT anytime soon. That was a gutsy effort by both teams.

Overall a terrible slate of matchups this weekend.

Another Big 12 v SEC measuring stick with KState at Miss State.

Iowa vs Iowa State should be entertaining.

Any Iowa football is pretty boring.

I have to work Saturday and hopefully get out of here before traffic get stupid around NRG.

I wouldn't mind seeing at Iowa home game, just for the children's hospital salute.

Iowa State probably has the best fans in all the Big12... I bet the atmosphere for gameday/the game is going to be fantastic.

Rush2Judge 09-09-2019 10:41 AM

After an entertaining yet disappointing weekend of football, it appears as though I have officially been eliminated from any chance at winning Pick'em. Brutal!

Good luck to everyone this week.

El General 09-09-2019 10:41 AM

I haven't gotten to look in on the other thread since Friday, but just want to congratulate LSU on one helluva win. Joe Burrow was **** near perfect. I had a helluva good time with the LSU fans sitting near me and at the tailgates we checked in on.

Time to start looking for tickets for the return trip to Baton Rouge next year.

Texas looks the part. They have plenty to work on, especially Todd Orlando and his coverages. Although, I have to say they weren't terrible in coverage as much as Burrow put the ball exactly where it needed to be. He was impressive as was Sam.

I'd also say the have found one heck of a new weapon in Duvernay! He absolutely destroyed Delpit in the second half.

Time to pound some Hooters! Texas opens as a 30.5 point favorite.

That 3rd and 17 full house blitz was one of the dumbest calls in the history of football.

No doubt about it! Herman and Orlando continue to be overly aggressive and/or arrogant at times.

Texas/OSU Big 12 opener time slot just announced for prime time 6:30 kick on ABC. I'll post a poolside bonfire pic for MBV77.

Gclyde28 09-09-2019 11:26 AM

As much as I want to complain about the full house blitz on 3rd and 17 I cant bring myself to do it. I complain all the time about how we get un-aggressive and into prevent coverages that allow the other team to move the ball at will. They stayed aggressive in this case and got burned. **** happens. Hell of game. Burrow will make himself some money in the revamped LSU pro spread system. Neither team looked like DBU saturday. Cant wait till the rematch in Baton Rouge.

I agree burrow continues to play like this heíll be a hot commodity... curious how this looks in recruits eyes! For years les promised to spread it out, and never did an we suffered true qb talent because of it. We may finally start peaking top tier QBs interest!!!!!! [emoji1374][emoji1374]

But LSU has a team that can compete and probably win, even with that schedule.

Unfortunately for the Aggies who have a similar schedule, and unless Mond flips whatever mental switch he has that makes him not suck, we don't. Overall the rest of the performance by TAMU wasn't that bad. If the offense could have kept a drive or two alive to eat more of the clock and kept QB Sunshine on the sideline just a little more it could have been a much different game. The Aggie defense did good to hold Clemson to a reasonable amount, complete lack of offense killed us.

Texas and LSU are both strong. I'm wondering how much of the yardage given up was because of the lack of defense (some tu and LSU fans on here have brought this up) and how much of it is just great QBs with lots of tools doing their thing?

Hoss163 09-09-2019 12:30 PM

Mond for heisman after this week 😂😳

Clemson is not a number 1 team..i sincerely think maryland could beat them.

I'm old enough to remember a certain National Championship game between Texas and USC. Those offenses made both defenses look pedestrian. I also remember a lot of those guys on the D side of the ball going on to have great NFL careers.

Texas offense wore down the LSU defense in the second half. Texas defense had a bunch of busted coverages by the linebackers and zone was pretty loose. They also played well off the ball and Burrow picked them apart. I'm sure they were pretty beat as well, but... LSU couldn't stop Texas at all in the second half which is what Heath had eluded to happening when you have a prolific quick strike offense. I think both teams are going to be better following this game. They both learned a lot.

TC 09-09-2019 12:47 PM

As an Aggie fan, I wanted lsu and texas to both somehow lose. But all I can say is DANG. Both teams looked legit. Sam and Joe are both the real deal.

As for my Ags, we hung in there for the most part. It was hard for me to understand how at the end of the 1st qtr it was 0-0 and clemson had -8 rushing yards, then all of the sudden our starting Defense started dropping like flies left and right, all seeming to have the same injury. Seemed fishy to me, but i'm sure i'm just digging for excuses.

TCU versus Rondale Moore should be fun to watch.

EastTexasMan 09-09-2019 12:53 PM

Defense played well enough to win. Held Clemson to under 400 total yards and 24 points, both hadn't been done since their NC game in 2017 vs alabama.

Mond sucked *** and proved that he is still the same old consistently inconsistent QB of old. As he goes, we go unfortunately. Overthrew multiple receivers early, missed a TD pass on 2nd play of game, fumble on our side of the field, INT on their goal line, just bad.

Also, the SEC refs continue to suck. Neither of these plays are any excuse for our loss, but that horse collar wasn't even close to one, and the safety we were screwed out of because a ref thought he saw 12 players was pretty bad.

They will still get in. Consider one of the 4 spots locked up. They play nobody. And even if they drop a game, they still would likely go to ACC Championship game and get back in top 4 by winning it.
