Think i heard him crash. Like 6 does and 3 young bucks all took off in same direction so I couldnít track him. Shot felt good - he jumped straight up and then tore off. Getting out now.

I think I missed this time and heart shot him...[emoji12]

He only went 30 yards. I know this deer but havenít seen him since opening weekend last year. Heís 4.5 and the biggest buck Iíve ever gotten on camera at my place. Small acreage near Enchanted Rock.

A couple more. I know this isnít a monster, but heís the biggest buck Iíve ever shot and my first 10pt and the biggest Iíve seen at my property. My buddy has owned the neighboring tract for 15 years and hasnít shot a buck this big. Iím stoked.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...df16ac5cd4.jpg

I had a ton of does and young bucks all over the place, but they were only lightly running. Thought for sure with 12-15 does all around me Iíd have a good buck tending them, but the biggest one I saw was a 4-yr-old big bodied pencil horned 8. Had several 2.5 year old bucks trying on the does but they werenít having it.

Feeder went off this a.m. and the does all hit it. I had set it last night to go off a 2nd time at 8:45 and when it did, I noticed right away some very big does coming in I hadnít seen yet. Saw movement back in the brush and this guy was right on a doe pushing her from my left to right but not heading to feeder. My place is very heavily brushed so I picked a break I thought heíd walk through and when I saw the doe pass through it I knew it was gonna happen. Aimed front shoulder but hit a bit back (pun intended). Iím shooting downhill so it went in just behind right shoulder and came out low and slightly back. Didnít hit heart but blew up both lungs.

That's a great Hill Country buck! We hunted off 16 a tick North of Fredericksburg for more than 20 years. Love that area.

lovemylegacy 11-19-2018 11:17 AM

Yeah, he is a monster! Congrats, nice deer.

Stykbow 11-19-2018 11:19 AM

Congratulations !

SaltwaterSlick 11-19-2018 11:22 AM

Personally, I'd rather get a double lung shot low like that than a heart shot... Dang heart shots usually mean they run WIDE open until they drop... lungs, usually not so much... Good blood trail and shorter... You dun gooood!

Txdeerhunter243 11-19-2018 11:32 AM

Congrats! That's a beauty!

Carpe_diem 11-19-2018 11:42 AM

That's a great buck!!

BitBackShot 11-19-2018 11:45 AM

Thanks everyone. Itís been a 15 year quest to take a 10pt at my own place. Have shot a lot of nice 8s but never had a shot on a 10 Iíd shoot. Letting this guy walk last year was definitely the right decision. Same spread but added mass and time length.

Just finished caping him. Wife said no on shoulder mount,so I guess Iíll apologize whenI pick him up...;)
