Not my truck. It's a dealer truck.

Ford was the only company to run the Baja 1000 without any modifications to their trucks besides tires. Granted I think only one finished. Mighty impressive for bone stock.

Toyota ran a couple, however they redesigned the suspension, and they took 1st and second in the prerunner class I believe.

With the redesigned high output EcoBoost and 10 speed transmission, I would consider waiting a year or 2 before pulling the trigger on one. Make sure they get the kinks ironed out, before dropping 60-80 grand. They sure do look awesome though. The grey color they had on display at the rodeo was sweet!

The 10 speed that is new was a collaboration between GM and Ford. I believe Chrystler has been using them for almost 2 years now. I bet 90% of the bugs are ironed out.

Trophy Truck would have been crippled going that far to flat. Your argument is invalid.

I have four-wheel-drive TSS trucks here.

Why would anyone pay that for any kind of pickup truck?

Unless they had to have it to make a living, I guess. And that's still debatable.

Because they have the means and want to

Good reply and accurate. I guess I'm just not as well off as most people seem to be. I never liked taking out a loan for a vehicle.

My first new truck cost me 1/2 a years salary. My second one cost me 1/3 of a years salary. The last new truck I bought cost me a whole years salary.

An 80K truck would cost me over a years salary which seems like to much inflation for me. But that's just me.

I'm definitely not disagreeing with you. Truck prices have gone crazy in recent years

I hate how new truck prices keep going up, but the Raptor is basically a luxury item. A base model 1/2 ton pickup truck brand new is like half the cost of the Raptor.

Will most people that buy a Raptor use it to it's actual potential..probably not. I don't see that any different than people buying high-end sports cars or similar.

People spend their money how they want to spend it. Trying to judge someone on how much they pay for something is useless as it can be applied in so many ways.

Atfulldraw 04-19-2017 07:21 PM

just test drove one....the salesman didn't like me too much:D

I told him I'm not buying one until I get my flat bill hat, skinny jeans, and some more money from dad.....

mouthing off about how someone chooses to use their truck is such an asinine argument.....my current truck listed at 75K (I didn't pay anywhere near that) but I regularly haul a gooseneck, a tractor, metal, and various building materials.

I also spend up to sixteen hours a day in and out of my truck, so I like it to be comfortable.

You act like it's your money.

It's not. :)

Not trying to judge anyone on anything. Just a question that apparently has several answers.

To a large extent we as consumers help fuel the fire by buying what they sell no matter what the price. We are a spoiled society (me included) and refuse to speak with their pocket books.

My major problem is that I'm old enough to remember nickel soda pops and new Chevy trucks for $1,645.00. I guess that makes me think everything is to high.:D

My 2016 Tundra has the TSS system and is 4WD. I'm honestly still not sure what the TSS thing is.

Ha! Same here. I just bought a 2017 a couple weeks ago. I think it's just a bunch of minor "upgrades" randomly applied. Like floor mats, exhaust tip, different rim/tire configurations etc.

Add a little perspective.

They averaged 23 mph and just barely finished under the time limit.17 seconds to spare.I imagine for marketing purposes the intent was to finish and not necessarily go fast.
The winner of the class(Stock Full Sized Truck) beat them by 4 hours in a Hummer.
The winner of Class 11 STOCK VW Bug beat them by 4 hours with a time penalty.

The overall winner(Trophy Truck) beat them by over 17 hours(with a time penalty) with an average speed of just over 50 mph.

Lol, yeah, I agree w/ marketing. Also, I think there were 4 new Raptors, but only 1 finished. I could be wrong.

I still say if a bone stock truck can make it that's pretty awesome. There is a video of Ken Block out there doing 70+ mph over some 1 and 2' sand drifts. It's impressive how much that suspension can soak up.

Procomp fender flares. You have to install them with a lift kit

Dodge has no A10...they have had great success with their A8 however.

This A10 will be seen across the GM & Ford line in short order...expect to see more in 18. Both Ford and GM launched in their top shelf performance line, which speaks volumes. They debuted it in the Raptor and Camaro ZL1. It's an amazing trans & really hope I get the chance to see what Ford did with it in the Raptor.

I have the ZL1 & while they share the same basic outer shell, the innards are designed & engineered for the specific applications...they say it has a computer in it to chat with the engine & knows what you are wanting out of it at any moment. I've read quite a bit on it & while a lot of it is hush hush it's quite an amazing piece of hardware. It up/down shift faster than Porshe's pdk trans in the GM. I really haven't looked into the Raptor specifics, but do know the ZL1 tops out speed in 8th gear. 9th & 10th are overdrives. If I'm in tour mode & just tooling around, you cannot feel it shift it is so smooth.

I really would like an opportunity to compare & try a spin in the Raptor to see what Ford did on their end...it's really a shame almost all most Ford dealers do the ADM crap with their upper end stuff or Dad would driving one instead of a King Ranch right now. You don't see as many Chevy dealers doing this??

From what I was told it is just basically the 'black out' version of their trucks- with black wheels, running boards, upgraded tires (BF Goodrich), floor mats, exhaust tip, and the sticker.
