what's next on the agenda?

Well with deer season coming close to an end, and at an end for some of us I was just curios as to what everyone was looking forward to hunting/doing next? Personally, I'm looking to get into some hogs since they are all over the public land near me, as well as trying my luck at turkey hunting. Never gone turkey hunting, but if it gets me outdoors with a bow I'll try it out. Also looking forward to doing some bowfishing and running trot lines this summer. What about everyone else?

BowOnly81 01-12-2018 07:49 PM

Hogs and white bass. Then the catfish roll in.

Stuck 01-12-2018 07:50 PM

Coastal fishing and 10U baseball.

I've never done any coastal fishing, but I've always heard its a blast. H3ll this year was the first year that I've ever even been to a coast. Good luck fishing!

Hogs, predators, changing up a few setups for next season! Timber specialist coming Monday to get a cut plan together as well! This coming season will be a big change!

Woah! Timber specialist? I know where I'm hunting in October haha. That's awesome though. Didn't even know they had specialists for timber. Kinda just assumed that was a Biologist/Conservationist thing.

Heading to rock springs tomorrow to hopefully watch my buddy get an axis. After that I’m moving to Lufkin so I think some fishing is in order

Good luck on your move man. I just moved back in October, luckily it was a one day thing because my wife and I barely had anything at the time, but man did it still suck haha.

DesertDug 01-12-2018 08:03 PM

Working on changing up next years set ups and tring to get one of those smarter then me hogs while out there. Turkeys sounds fun, only tried once at the moor plantation public land, may make a camping trip out there again one weekend and give it another wirl.

El Paisano 01-12-2018 08:04 PM

Hogs and squirrels for me.

We moved from Harker Heights, TX to Paris, TX. What made it worse is the fact that we had moved earlier that year from Tennesee back to Texas. So it was as if we would get good and comfortable and then move again. All in all we have moved 3 times since December of 2015.

Basically hiring a Forester to come in and manage our timber cut on 88 acres. Property has never been touched. I'm overrun with mature cedars all around my oaks and need to thin them all so the oaks can reach full potential. Lots of pines and some hardwoods that could use thinning. Cover is there for all wildlife and even selective cutting will still leave plenty. I plan to plant 18 acres of pines as well. Hopefully see a nice chunk of change from the cut. Upgrade all blinds, larger feed pen stations and better bow setups through main travel areas.

lovemylegacy 01-12-2018 08:17 PM

If I can get off of work, we are still deer hunting, but some Redfishing would be nice. Plot work, shed hunting. Bass fishing, Bream fishing all on fly rods

BLACKFINTURKEY 01-12-2018 08:18 PM

Hogs and white bass till it starts warming up then coast fishing. Maybe a few bass fishing trips and in spring turkey.

huntingfanatic 01-12-2018 08:21 PM

Predators, quail, hogs then spring turkey then stripers and sand bass

My plans are to start baiting hogs while fishing. Then drop jug-lines in the morning, fish for sandbass and crappie all afternoon, Then go crawl up a tree and go to sleep till the hogs wake me up. Shoot a hog. Climb down and take it back to camp about sunrise. Go run jugs to see what's on-em and rebait. Then go fish. Then climb tree and sleep till hogs come in. Repeat till I gotta go home and go to work. :)

BTLowry 01-12-2018 08:32 PM

Crappie with Slew, trout at Beaver's Bend with Slew, hogs at the house, maybe a freezer filler exotic hunt

Lots of work around the house and place that needs to be done

My boat gets winterized the 1st of June. I don't do heat well. So gotta get it while I can. :)
It's hard being a "shut-in" all summer. :D

Geezy Rider 01-12-2018 08:39 PM

Javalina in February and working on my form for trad shooting. 3D tourneys and pig hunting.

Landrover 01-12-2018 08:53 PM

MLD until February 28th in hill country. Nilgai in May. New Zealand in June. Sable in Africa in August. Some fishing and a trip over to Hilton Head stuck in as the calendar clicks!

Hoping to break ground on our new home end of Feb, first of March so it is going to be a busy year. Will be mixing in fishing both fresh and saltwater, golf and most likely a free range axis hunt. Not sure what the summer or fall will bring just yet.

sharpstick35 01-12-2018 09:10 PM

pigs/predators until spring turkey season. After that its summer axis and blackbuck. I'll squeeze in a few fishing trips too.

youngbuck1 01-12-2018 09:12 PM

Work. Lease work. More work. Fishing. More lease work. Hogs. Work. Then finally deer season and Wyoming antelope if I’m lucky enough to draw a tag with no points. First time to put in for a “western” hunt. Pretty excited to see how it plays out.

Jeremy7306 01-12-2018 09:15 PM

Hopefully get some public land spring turkey in, medic school will be controlling my life until November though so we shall see!

Bayouboy 01-12-2018 09:23 PM

Small game, fine tune setups, and start building a new home.

Farmdog 01-12-2018 09:31 PM

Grain Sorgum, yellow corn, then cotton, soon onions come off...planting season is almost here

125Dad 01-12-2018 09:36 PM

Quail hunting never done it but going to give it a try.
And once a month to the lease to work relax maybe stick a hog.

But more then likely work. Wife does have are two vacations planned

Smart 01-12-2018 09:41 PM

Pigs all spring here locally if we can get them more consistent. I aim to put a little more effort into it this year.

March 1-ish is around our turkey season workday at the lease, rebrushing natural turkey bow blinds, refilling feeders, water and putting out cameras to scout for us for a month. Started cottonseed this year so I'm anxious to see how they take to it.

Bownanza

Turkey season 3/31....

kd350 01-13-2018 12:03 AM

Going duck hunting next weekend. Hogs, Turkey, exotics, hopefully get my first aoudad. Do some fishing as well

fulldraw_529 01-13-2018 02:22 AM

I'm still finishing out duck season on the coast, then an Arkansas conservation goose hunt in February. After that, it's all coastal fishing for me until September, with the occasional hog hunt here and there

Banded Drake Custom Calls

Bowhuntamistad 01-13-2018 03:19 AM

Chukar until Feb, then ice fishing if it gets cold enough for a bit until summer exotics and bass fishing. Will fit in some skiing in there somewhere.

geezer56 01-13-2018 03:27 AM

Setting up the feeders for hogs in Georgia next weekend. Then Extreme Bowhunting for a week mid Feb. Then hogs again all summer with the thermal set up. Plus turkeys this spring, and I have the boat I just got to rig out and get to fishing. I think I am going to like being retired.

skeeter 01-13-2018 07:56 AM

Hope to do some white bass fishin. Gotta contact a guide cuz I was stupid and sold my boat. Turkey hunt in April. South Africa in may. Maybe pronghorn in August. Got a Missouri whitetail hunt in sept. Plus all the normal deer lease stuff. I’m sure I’ll mix in a few pig hunts.

Codie 01-13-2018 08:13 AM

Soccer

Old Mathews 01-13-2018 08:23 AM

Left knee replacement Feb 5, recover and then hunt turkeys. Then chase trout, redfish, flounder and drum around the laguna madre. While doing that try and set up a pronghorn hunt for later this year

flywise 01-13-2018 08:40 AM

Tearing everything out of my camper and them making it more user friendly.

Pullersboy 01-13-2018 08:43 AM

Hogs, predators and hopefully some fishing g. Sold my boat last year, but want to get a kayak to hold me over until i can get a new boat. Who knows, after a kayak, I may not want to get a new boat....

stickbowcoop 01-13-2018 08:47 AM

If I was in PA I would be ramping up for the trout opener in April. I love walking the tight SW PA Laurel mountain trout streams fly fishing natives (wild brook trout). I can't make it back this year so I am hoping I can shoot a bow in time for turkey season.
