PACE Rules of Engagement

I'm making a last-ditch effort to clean up this forum before I pull the plug entirely. I'm holding us to a higher standard than the rest of the Internet Here are some requirements. Check back frequently to the OP because I'll probably be adding as we go...

1. Be respectful to the site and our members, with your posts and replies.

I shouldn't have to elaborate beyond that, but...

2. Name calling of any kind isn't appropriate. "Idiot", "not very smart", "clueless", "libtard", "trumpateer/trumpist/trumpkin", etc. aren't an appropriate way to address site members.

3. Name calling, even of candidates, is juvenile. "Trumph", "Killary", "Obummer", "Lyin' Ted", etc. aren't appropriate for this site (or for presidential candidates, IMO...but I can't control that.)

4. Telling another member to "go away" (in various forms) or "get over it" isn't an appropriate or intelligent reply, and doesn't add value to the conversation, or the site.

5. If more than 50% of your posts to the site are in the Politics/Current Events forum, it's likely you're not adding value to the site. If you don't add value to the site, there's no use for you to be here.

6. I'm tired of the "spill-over" posts and "calling out" members on unrelated threads (and often other social media outlets). "I wonder what has to say about...". or "I bet wishes..." on other threads inside or outside of this forum is antagonistic. If you're the type to hold a grudge based on words on the internet, this likely isn't a good place for you to hang out.

7. Don't be antagonistic...intentionally or unintentionally.

8. Don't post memes or gifs.

Again, I might suggest referring back to this thread at least daily for awhile. ;)b

Thanks.
We needed that.

Works for me.

In reference to number 5, I can't speak for everyone, but this is the only sub forum I'll be in til deer season gets closer. I'd rather not spend my time in ATC where every other post is someone using this site as a second Facebook. I'd rather stay up to date on what's happening in the news than on someone's new dog/kid/fiancÚ. If that stuff adds more value to the site than what I post, then so be it.

Edit: just realized that sounds like I disagree with everything you say, which isn't true. Certain people are/were creating a toxic environment here, but I believe you took care of that with a couple of key bans.

For those of you that don't know, the wonderful creators of this site have created an ignore list. So if you are ever tired reading about my shoe post, bobs BBQ /slayer post, or Aggie homers( there's a bunch of them[emoji8]) use the ignore function.

If you chose not to use the ignore function Ragin has a really warm blanket he is willing to share in Antartica.

Thanks Michael. I too think it is good to have a forum such as this. I apologize for using some of the "name" words you reference... Hadn't thought about some as real negatives since they are so commonly used, but then again, this site is not the norm and thankful for that.

There is one thing that I would love to see happen and that is the ability to recognize in the settings if someone is on a member's "Ignore" list, when they are quoted, they also do not show up... That ignore function has made things much more peaceful for me!

Mario Puzo, through his character Don Corleone - the Godfather, wrote: "Never hate your enemies, it affects your judgment".

Sadly, and for far too long, the descriptors our "enemies" and politicians, or aspiring politicians - are synonymous.

Most of the membership will understand the wisdom of Puzo's / the Godfather's statement, once reminded. But it will go straight over the heads of many, where it will continue to dangle throughout their lives.

I simply mention it.

Reminder:
This IGNORE FUNCTION is not totally effective if you losers don't stop quoting the troll that gets placed on it.

Just Say No to Quotes.

Does anybody actually enforce these rules? Or are they just posted as a formality?

Thank you.
Finally read these guidelines. Yes Sir we should be kind and respect to one another. That ain't the real world. People are mean and hateful. There are bullies. Everything is not beautiful. I refuse to be PC. If this is how a political forum is run I'm out.
Semper fi.
God bless.
