Stolen Trail Cam - Sam Houston

I was out today checking up on my trial cameras and taking them back - I couldn't find one of my Browning cameras ... I had two locks on it - one python and the other a gun lock for the latch. Pretty bummbed out this - I'll go back out just in case I didn't see it but I'm pretty sure its gone (I put GPS coordinates on my phone).

Whoever took it was pretty determined to get it since they had to hike in bolt cutters - can't stand thieves - take from those that have worked hard to get something (anyway - good thing I have beer )

Sorry for you loss! I had the same thing happen at LBJ a few seasons back. Python lock and about 12ft in a tree. They really wanted it. Luckily I had wrapped the cable around the tree so many times I was still able to use the lock the way they cut it. They just left it lying at the base of the tree.

      Python locks

Python locks are easy to jimmy open.

Master Lock brand new Python Cable Bike Lock is absolute JUNK. I am amazed this product made it through quality control over at Master Lock headquarters. T...

That’s a bummer, I’m too afraid of this happening to use a camera over $40. I guess the one good thing is you now know where not to hunt. If you don’t mind me asking was it east or west?

I love lock picking. I am no pro, but it makes for a good party trick. Hate to hear the OP lost his cam, I hate a thief.

I put mine on the ground in a stump under a fallen tree etc. Never had one come up missing. They are usually set at 90 degrees to a game trail so they are not seen.

I think some of them SHNF hunters carry a set of bolt cutters in their backpack for when they come upon something. Also, it helps eliminate competition, especially if they come across a ladder stand, etc. It's cut throat out there. I would go back 3-4 miles and never lost anything. Got some land in Sabine and lost a couple of feeders and a $100 camera that was 12 feet in the air. Shoot, then bury.

They will take anything in the Sam. Have seen trucks broken into in the parking areas. Sad, but the way it is now.

It was west - yeah probably not a good place to hunt

Thanks guys - I was a mile and some change near a drainage - leaving anything on public land is a gamble

I would hide my climbers on the ground with leaves and sticks near the tree I was using.

I have found cameras out there but usually smile real big for a photo and then leave. I would not touch other peoples property and I would expect the same treatment in return. Sorry for your loss.
