    Could my cams be rubbing

Guys, I’ve never noticed if the strings were worn here already. But I just noticed the strings are a bit worn where the cams roll past them. Is this a problem? Just wondering if I need to make a trip to the bow shop. I have a trip coming up and don’t need any drama. Thanks!

Yep, watch it while drawing and I'd bet it rubs. Just need a twist or two in the yoke/cable to pull it off.

      How old are the strings?

Anytime I have a doubt in my mind about my bow I take it to the bow shop. I don’t like drama either.

Looks like where the cable rolls over the module. Post a pic of the whole cam

Agreed show whole cam. Looks like where it breaks over the module to me

here you go guys. Honestly, this is above my skill set. I’ll probably take to the shop on Monday. What can y’all tell from the pics? Appreciate the feedback.

Yeah that's where your cables hit your draw stops at full draw. They arent rubbing the cam when you draw.

Awesome man. Thanks for the info. I’m assuming that’s not an emergency. The bow is only a few months old.

That’s good old fashion serving separation. Factory strings are famous for it and as stated very common around tight radius or contact points.

Yep, I retract my original thoughts. Just factory cable serving separation. Mathews/zebra strings aren't the highest quality to begin with though.

That’s Mathews’ wonderful choice of string, Zebra Strings. Pull those crap strings and cables off and get some custom ones built.

The problem really lies in the building process for OEM threads. The string/cables are served under tension which is how the should be done. However, when you get creep in the string/cable the serving just moves right along with it. This is amplified by high stress areas like we’ve already spoke about and that’s usually where you see it pop up first. Honestly, I would be more concerned about the bow getting out of tune more than a little of the bundles showing but it’s a symptom of an underlying issue.

Mass produced strings just don’t get the TLC like a good custom builder gives a set of threads. I’m a 60x guy but there are ton of other great option out there. A properly built string that uses quality fibers, has the right strand to bundle ratio, is pre-stretched properly and correctly served should be keep you from seeing this in the future.

Thanks so much for the info. What string do you guys like for custom built strings? I have a hunt coming up in 20 days and I have my bow dialed in. I don’t want to change anything if I can help it but I definitely don’t want any equipment failures. Tempted to just put high quality strings on it and hope that I don’t have to dial it back in afterwards.

If I had a hunt booked 20 days out, and my bow was dialed in, the serving separation in your pic would not bother me. I definitely wouldn’t change strings at this point.
