    Truck rock Bars

    Building Nerf Bars

Max asked me a week ago to think about building some Nerf bars. I however had the idea to build rock or wreck bars. Fast forward a week he comes over and we start discussing it and looking for parts to build them. Then we went to the feed store and had a couple of cups of coffee and put it on Bobs bill the purpose of the stop is to run it by all the experts they pretty much know it all so we discussed all the possible pipes and where to get them bent or buy weld on 90s. Then my friend Bob showed up and we discussed the options again. So we had a game plan and found the pipe and 4 90s. Now was the time to figure out the mounting brackets Bob had a suggestion which would work. He told us you know the frame will bend if you make them to strong. Max and I replied cool. See we both feel that whatever we build should be stronger than what we build it on. So at the end of the day we had the three passenger hangers done and the driver’s side cut out.

This is how we are mounting the bars you really have to mount to the frame unless you want some wussy bars.

looks good, I have a set of steps commercial made out of what looks like 1-1/4 pipe topped by diamond plate that came off a Ford ext. cab if interested, heavy duty, not cheapo stuff.

I saw what these guys were working on today and let me tell that if they hit anything with these nerf bars the frame will definitly bend..........Max may need to add some leef springs to support his new nerf bars

Draco-It was good meeting you today and the offer is always open to come fish the Pedernales.....

Steve took them to the powder coaters this evening. They came out great, but 3 1/2" schedule 80 pipe for step bars seems a little much. But on the other hand, if you knew Max you might think they are barely enough. He's pushes his equipment to the limits. What am I saying, he pushes things past their limits.

We welded them to the supports 3/8 I-Beam bolted to the frame fabing that to fit factory bolt holes took the most time. We added 2" of expanded meatl on top as an anti slip.
I really dont think thy will look shop built once they are done and 3 1/5 outside makes them beefy

The powder coated had compressed isuies so they will be ready in a day or two.
We built them so we can later atach a full lenth skid plate.
