Got selected for South Llano SP Gun Deer either sex hunt from Nov. 4-7th. Anyone ever been on this hunt? Looking forward to hopefully getting an axis on this hunt.

Went 3 years ago on the doe/spike hunt. If you want an axis, try to get a stand along the river bottom. -

Went on the exotic only a few yrs ago...all depends on what stand you get. When I went we drew random numbers for blinds. Typically there are alot of axis along the river that tend to move in from the property on the West side if you get lucky and draw the first blind you'll have a good shot at axis and whitetail. Either way should have no problem getting whitetail. Good luck, definitely one of the better hunts from the few Ive been on.

Took my daughter on the youth hunt there last year. During our hunt the best blind for the axis was the one near the river behind campground area, sorry I don’t recall the blind #’s. Definitely take you a bale or two of alfalfa. Good luck, it’s a great hunt and the park staff were awesome.

That was the one that I was hoping for. BIL and I did the antlerless hunt last year. Some other people saw a couple of nice bucks. Lots of axis deer also.
Powderhorn isn't a bad consolation prize though.Comment
